Winding Moonlight was born in Hong Kong, founded by me, Meiying — with my younger sister Meiyan as our lead designer. We grew up together, drawn to the same beautiful, quiet things. Having her beside me, bringing every piece to life through her design, is what makes this brand feel like something more than a brand. It's ours.
The Founder's Story
It started in vintage shops, in corners of cities I was passing through. I've always been the kind of person who lingers too long in the jewellery section, drawn to old craftsmanship, to pieces that carry a sense of time you can't quite name. But I kept running into the same problem: the most beautiful vintage pieces were also the hardest to actually wear. Too precious, too specific, too much for a Tuesday.
That question stayed with me… What if those elements could be reimagined for the everyday? Not stripped of their character, but brought forward. Given a new language.
Winding Moonlight is the answer we kept coming back to. We believe jewellery is more than decoration, it's a quiet conversation between you and time. And the best parts of the past are worth carrying with you.
Designer Meiyan
Meiyan is the design soul of Winding Moonlight, and the person I know best.
Her path took her from the UK to France to Italy, studying and living in cities where fashion is a way of seeing the world. Along the way, she worked on projects with Louis Vuitton, Vivienne Tam, and Avavav. But she has never been someone who follows where everyone else is going. Since we were young, she's had a quiet stubbornness about her work, it has to have a twist, it has to mean something, it has to be hers.
That conviction is what you feel in every piece she designs. She doesn't settle, and she doesn't compromise, not on an idea, not on a detail, not on anything she believes in. That's the standard she holds herself to, and it's the standard we hold this brand to.
